Form, space and ground-all have been given a new perspective in this amazing drawing. The negative space and the ground have been collaborated to make quite an impact on the viewer. The woman in the drawing is supported by the negative space around her, and lies on the ground in a very complex and unconventional pose. Hopelessness, negativity and the blank space around her is engulfing the lady. The artist created this drawing in an open college drawing session and has tried to make a comment on the way women are treated and perceived in the modern society. The abstract and uncommon angle inspires the viewer to try a different perspective.

The artist drew this piece in an open drawing session in order to reflect upon
today’s women and how the world sees them. A lot of experimentation has
been done in this sketch with negative space and the ground. The woman in
the sketch is supported by the ground. She seems to be in despair. This
drawing incites the viewers to think about the way women are treated in the
society and how they suffer. Countless women are subjected to pain, suffering
and regression even today. This drawing asks the viewer, are modern women
truly liberated, or does discrimination affect them?

This piece is a reflection on the fact that racism still exists in today’s world and the seeds of color discrimination are passed on from generation to generation. This work is inspired by the artist’s memories of kindergarten, where, one of her friends had suggested that children should only play with dolls that look like them, as in, of the same skin tone. The artist has also noticed in numerous toy stores that even though children do not care whether a doll is black or white, their parents corrupt their innocence by insisting that they go for the white dolls.
